If you are interested in art, the UK is definitely a place to be. The country is home to hundreds of art galleries, some large and publicly owned and others smaller and owned by private companies or individuals. Some of these galleries are more technically known as 'art museums', because the works they showcase are there for viewing only, rather than for purchase. In general, it tends to be the smaller, privately owned galleries that offer art that is available for purchase.
Many art galleries are known for the exhibitions they display, where they showcase art from a particular genre or time period. Sometimes individual artists are also showcased at galleries.
